Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Indigo Labs Ltd (“Indigo Labs”, “we”, “us”, “our”) collects and uses personal data when you visit the Genie marketing site or join our waiting list. We comply with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
1. Who we are
Indigo Labs Ltd is a company registered in England and Wales. We are the data controller for personal data collected through this website.
If you have any questions about this policy, or wish to exercise any of your rights, you can reach us at genie@indigolabs.ai.
2. What we collect, and why
Waiting list signups
When you join the Genie waiting list we collect:
- Your email address, so we can let you know when Genie ships and invite you to confirm your pre-order.
- The page or form you signed up from, to understand which parts of the site convert.
- The referring website (if any) and your browser user agent, to detect and prevent automated abuse of the form.
- A timestamp set by our database when your entry is created.
We rely on your consent (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(a)) as the lawful basis for processing your email for waiting list communications. You can withdraw consent at any time by emailing us (see “Your rights” below).
For abuse prevention (referrer and user agent), our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in keeping the form free from spam and bots (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(f)).
Site usage
We currently do not run third-party analytics, advertising trackers, or social pixels on this site. If we add analytics in future, we will update this policy and, where required, ask for your consent through a cookie banner before any non-essential cookies are set.
Cookies and similar technologies
This site does not set any non-essential cookies. The Firebase Web SDK that powers our waiting list form may use small amounts of browser storage strictly necessary to make the form work; this is exempt from the consent requirement under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).
3. Where your data is stored
Waiting list entries are stored in Google Cloud Firestore, operated by Google as our processor. We have configured the database to be hosted in a region within the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area where available. Email and operational support is handled through accounts at Google Workspace.
Where any personal data is transferred outside the UK, we rely on the UK Government’s adequacy decisions, the UK International Data Transfer Agreement (IDTA), or Standard Contractual Clauses with the UK Addendum, as appropriate.
4. Who we share data with
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with:
- Service providers we use to run this site: Firebase (Google) for hosting and database, and Google Workspace for email. These providers act as our processors and only handle your data on our instructions.
- Authorities or advisors where we are legally required to disclose data, or where it is necessary to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
5. How long we keep it
We keep your waiting list entry until the earliest of:
- You ask us to remove it.
- Twenty-four months after Genie becomes generally available, if you have not converted to a customer in that time.
- You unsubscribe from waiting list emails, at which point we will delete your entry within 30 days unless we need to retain a minimal record to honour your unsubscribe request.
6. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Request that we erase your data (the “right to be forgotten”).
- Restrict or object to our processing of your data.
- Receive a portable copy of your data.
- Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out beforehand.
To exercise any of these rights, email genie@indigolabs.ai. We will respond within one calendar month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO): ico.org.uk. We would appreciate the chance to address your concerns first.
7. Children
This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from children under the age of 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can remove it.
8. Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including TLS encryption in transit, restricted database write rules, and access controls on our administrative tooling. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach occurs that affects your rights and freedoms, we will notify the ICO and you in line with UK GDPR.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent change. Significant changes will be communicated via the Genie waiting list email.
